Organise Home and Speed Dial:
Instead of having too many icons on your home screen, group your appplications into folders. To do this, Tap and hold Home Screen and go to Folders > New Folder.
A new icon called New Folder will appear on your Home screen. You can rename this folder and holding your finger on the title bar.
You just need to press and hold any icon the Home Screen and drag it to the folder. You can use folders to queue your speed dial/message list using the direct dial option from the shortcuts menu.

Alternatively, you can also select other available options with folders such as All Contacts which gives you a Home Screen shortcut to your contacts directory, including contacts from your Google account and social networking accounts. To include only the contacts with phone numbers and have the list as a dial list, you can choose Contacts with phone numbers.

Background applications not in use take up substantial resources including your precious processor power kill battery life. You an consrve battery life by killing these applications. to do so, go to Settings > Applications > Running Services.
Alternatively, you can install Advanced Task Killer from the Android Marketplace and kill applications that are not in use. Advanced Task Killer also provides a home screen widget that automatically kills idle applications. Activate the widget by tapping and holding your finger on the home screen, and selecting the Advanced Task Killer widget from the widgets menu, after you have installed the application from the Android marketplace.
Multitasking:
Holding down the home key opens the recently used apps. Selecting any of these directly switches your screen to the current state of the app. In recent versions of Android (Froyo and above), a task manager has been included as well so that you can directly kill idle apps.

If you want to save on screen taps required to play a particular playlist, you can add the Music playlist directly to your hame screen. To do so, Tap and hold Home Screen and go to Shortcuts > Music Playlist.
This will launch a list of your playlist from the music app. You can select any one of your pre-saved playlists, or select to Play All.
Save web images:
You can directly save the image you find on the web, or set it as your wallpaper by. Tap and hold the image and then tap on Save Image. This image will be saved in the gallery.
Quick find:
Find a keyword across your web page quickly by tapping the menu button and selecting More > Find on Page.
