Symbian^3, is the Latest Symbian platform release. The Symbian Platform is the successor of Symbian OS, while the latter required an additional user interface system. Symbian Platform integrated a user interface component based on the S60V5 into the platform itself. It is currently available on flagship devices such as the Nokia N8 and Nokia C7-00. We will now elaborate on a few tips and tricks to enhance your experience. Many of these tips will work on a S60V5 device also.

USB on-the-go:

One big step towards substituting your netbook with your phone
One of the most talked about and loved feature of Symbian^3 is the ability to natively support USB on-the-go, what it means is that it provides powered access to USB peripherals. For example, you can directly connect a pendrive to your phone (via a cable) and read or transfer data without the need together your phone to a computer. Now more interestingly, you can actually connect a USB mouse to your phone: Yes your standard desktop mouse. Once connected, the mouse pointer will be visible on the phone's screen. Left-click of the mouse will be equivalent to a top. Similarly, a right-click will minimize the application or open the menu. But the best part is that you can scroll through the gallery or list by using the scroll wheel of your mouse at amazing speeds.
Scheduled profiles:

Did you know your phone can even schedule the changeover of profile for you. For example, you can set the profile to silent for your bed timings and make it automatically shift to general at your wake up time. To do this, open Profiles in the Settings menu. Select the profile you want to schedule and then choose Timed. It will then give you the option of entering the preferred time for each profile. Remember that once the time for any profile expires, it will switch back to the last active profile.

Power saving:

Symbian^3 added a Power Saving Profile for some devices. When switched to, the phone will Dim the display, disable Bluetooth, disable screensavers and switch to GSM-only from 3G. It is a great way to extend your battery life when you are running close to 15-20 per cent and want to survive for a few extra hours. Like others, you can access it merely by pressing the power button and then selecting it from available profiles.

Video:

The video taking application provided by Symbian^3 supports "Video Stabilization". A simple and effective way of reducing motion jerks. To use it, open the camera application and switch to video mode. Go to Options > Settings and turn the “Video Stabilization" to ON. It is often complained that the Audio quality of the built-in voice recorder is not satisfactory. So if you are someone who use the Audio recording application often for taking notes, interview or in general then you should go to Options > Settings after opening the recorder app and find the field Recording Quality and change that to High.
