Leave some space:

Never fill up your iPhone completely. Make sure to leave at least 500MB of free disk. This way your existing apps would be able to load and save documents, and get updates if necessary. Also, filling up your iPhone or iPod Touch to the brim with media files will result in a very slow running device.

Multitasking and viewing open applications:

An iPhone warning over disk space
The primary new feature in iOS 4 is the ability to multitask. Unlike previous versions of iOS, you can now use multiple applications together. You can also listen to music on Pandora, while checking your email or browsing the internet. To view all running applications and swiftly switch between different apps that are already open, double-tap on your iPhone's Home Button. Select the app of your choice and control it while the other apps are running in the background.

iPod Controls:

Tap on the iPod icon to access
 your music collection
In the previous versions of iOS before iOS 4.0 double-tapping on the iPhone or iPod Touch Home Button would give you access to the iPod controls, but now with the introduction of the multitasking feature, you will have to reach the iPod controls in a different way. Simply double-tap the home button and while the multitasking shelf shows up, slide to the left of the screen and then your iPod controls come into view . You can add controls into this shelf like you do for Pandora.
