Debug Joomla:

Since Joomla is an open source platform, all of the code used to build the CMS is available to you. Also any changes you make to your website can be edited in the form of PHP code and you can make your own customisations directly through code. Furthermore if you want to alter or experiment with new modules or components, you will have to get into pure code. And due to the unavailability of a proper IDE, this can be a very difficult and cumbersome affair. All the coding would have to be done on a text editor and no debugging tools would be available. But luckily you can make use of two popular projects namely XAMPP and Eclipse, to debug Joomla code. The Joomla Docs project can guide you through each step of settings up PHP debugging for Joomla with Eclipse. The same resource lets you know more about how to install XAMPP, which is a very important tool to test your Joomla web site.

Other tips:

It is recommended that you always have a 'Related Articles' module in Joomla. Related Articles Lists help with SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and help search engine crawlers to find more accurate and descriptive links to other pages on your website. The 'Related Articles' also aid the users of the web site in finding similar articles if they liked the present one which again increases the amount of time a user spends on your website as he may visit other pages. You can automate the process of formulating the Related Articles by letting Joomla analyse the keywords in the current article and automatically listing and linking to other articles which have the most matching keywords. To create such a list we will need three extensions, a component, a module and a plugin. Download the latest versions of the "Fj Related" components. the "Fj Related Articles Plus" module and the "Add Keywords" plugin. Once you have downloaded the required parts go to the administrator area of you site and under Extensions > Instal/Unistall and upload all three of them. Then again go to Extensions > Plugin Manager and enable the System - Add Keywords plugin and finally under Extensions > Module Manager enable the "Related Articles" module. Once all of this is done, the related articles should start working.
