Nokia E6 : means business, completely

-----------------------

The E6 is similar to the E72. The phone feels solid, yet very light. The size of the phone is kept well in check, ensuring that the keypad is usable even with the same hand holding the phone. The 2.46-inch display is a very competent touchscreen in itself. The display quality is quite good, and the resolution of 640x480 pixels seems more than needed for a display of this size! However, the font size does remain quite small. Blackberry smartphones allow you to set the font size, but Nokia still carries forward the small, medium, large setting. This might annoy people.

Symbian Anna has made its way on to this device, and we can see a lot of performance improvements when compared to the Symbian 3 OS. The interface is slicker, apps respond better, and the phone doesn’t slow down often. However, the Social networking app and widget are a huge disappointment, and you still need to download the Chat application to get access to Gtalk, Windows Live and Yahoo messengers.

The 8MP camera is very good, and works very well even in low light conditions. Now that is a serious surprise.

The hardware keypad is a delight to use. The keys have a slight bulge on them, making typing easier and precise. The only thing that takes some getting used to be the number keys those are in the middle, and not towards one side of keypad. The battery life is very good, and the phone will last a couple of days, even after being constantly connected.

We have seen this phone retailing for about Rs 17.5k, and the E6 is in the middle of the prices of the Blackberry Curve 3G and the Blackberry Bold 9700. If you are willing to spend about Rs 14k on a Curve 3G, then spend a bit more and get the E6 instead. However, the Bold 9700 is still a better deal, if you’re spending more than Rs 17.5k.
