A new feature in Adobe Flash Proffessional CS5 is the new Code Snippets Panel. This Panel helps in adding ActionScript 3code snippets that are very common into your Flash file. This feature can be employed to design and build projects like Banner Ads and simplegames, sometime not requiring you to have any knowledge of coding in ActionScript 3.
The panel has three buttons apart from the snippets which further add to its functionality.The Add to Frame button adds the particular selected snippet to the current frame's Actions layer. The Copy to Clipboard button copies the snippet onto your Clipboard. You can then use the same code wherever you like. The Options for Advanced Users button can be used by advanced users of the panel to write and save thier own snippets of code for future use. It also allows for importing and exporting snippets in and out to flash.
To illustrate the use of snippets let us draw a shape and from Code Snippet panel, expand the Actions category and add the Click to Go to Web Page snippet to the shape. You can now see from the Actions Panel that the code and actions have been inserted. you can test the action by clicking on Choose Control > Test Movie. Now if you click on the shape in the preview, the browser should open up taking you to www.adobe.com. You can add multiple snippets for simple actions like "Click To Go To Frame and Play", "Custom Mouse Cursor", "Play a Movie Clip" etc.
