In CS5 Adobe has added several enhancements to the brushes. Termed Beautiful Strokes, unlike adjusting the width of the entire stroke, with Variable Width strokes you can now apply preset width profiles. Using the Width Tool you can create custom widths by dragging the stroke into a shape, make and save custom adjustments as profiles which you can apply to future strokes.
Creating a logo or lettering with dashed strokes has always been a problem because they break up abruptly at corners. But now in CS5 you can use the Dash Adjustment Control and make corrections instantly. You can also scale art brushes and other arrow head adjustments.
Bristle Brush is a new tool that allows you to draw strokes that imitate natural brushes with different textures, transparency, and colours. You can choose the size bristle length, density, opacity and stiffness to mimic a real world brush stroke while still maintaining your artwork as a scalable vector.
