The Layers panel in InDesign CS5 has been revemped to be similar to the existing layers panel in Photoshop or Illustrator. You can now create groups, select every object on a single layer and move individual objects from one layer to another.
The new InDesign text abilities ease up the process of creating text-heavy documents. Paragraphs can now be made to span across multiple columns in the same text frame. Now InDesign can automatically balance many columns of text and keep them balanced while you are editing text. It is advantageous to know that InDesign keeps track of the changes to text by user, and you can accept/reject changes using the Story Editor.
In InDesign CS5 you can draw a grid for picture frames or do the same for threaded text frames while adjusting the number of rows and columns as you wish while working with text and images. The new Gap tool also allows you to drag around white space across multiple objects to change the spacing and gap between them. InDesign can also create and help with formatting captions for graphic frames depending on the metadata presenting in the graphic file.
The job of the printer and output provider has been made over easy because InDesign CS5 can automatically activate any fonts inside the Fonts folder of document which is created during the File > Package process. Also you can now continue to work on a document during the time the PDF is being generated from it. InDesign CS5 has now been upgraded to allow animations, FLV videos and MP3 audio files.
