The iBall Slide has an al-plastic body with a slight bulge on the non-screen side. It features the Android 2.3 operating system and a 7-inch capacitive touch screen. The apps menu has good bumptoplike interface which has good inertial scrolling mechanism. The tablet supports 3G services but you'll have to purchase a separate 3G WCDMA USB dongle for that. But in Reliance 3G Tab there is SIM slot which can affect the business of iBall Slide because it need a separate USB dingle.
The 1GHz processor is faster than the one on Reliance's 3G Tab, which clocks in at 800 MHz. The touch response was quite smooth. Absence of a dedicated volume controller is a huge letdown. The display is not very sharp thanks to the miniscule 800 x 480 pixel resolution. SD videos played quite well and we did not notice any banding or noise in solid scenes, but content isn't extremely vivid either. The Slate is not very loud and the bundled in-ear monitors sound very muffled.
The apps that come pre-bundled with the tablet are quite varied and interesting.
You will have to use the front facing camera for pictures and videos, which is strange. Picture quality isn't that great either. The 4,400 mAh battery gets over in a day which is sad. It drains quickly if you are downloading content or streaming videos.
The iBall Slide is available for Rs 13,599 which makes it a very interesting proposition for those looking to buy an entry level tablet. It will face stiff competition from Reliance 3G Tab, which has the 3G SIM card solt on the tablet so you will not have to shell out extra money for a USB dongle.
