Convert to black and white:

Go To Colors, and Select Desaturate. You will be now presented with three options ‘Lightness’, ‘Luminosity’ or ‘Average’, ignore the technicalities and choose what pleases your eye. If you want more control over this, select ‘Hue-Saturation’, Click on Master, and drag the ‘Saturation’ slider till you achieve your desired effect.
