1. Snaptu
Snaptu is a social networking cum entertainment/news application all rolled into one. The app has versions on many platforms but it’s probably the most valuable on a Java phone. The UI of the application totally transforms your dull feature phone interface into something almost like a Smartphone. The home screen in snaptu gives you access to a multitude of services that you could need. There’s the standard Twitter, Facebook stuff plus news feeds, cricinfo, Sudoku, a dictionary and lots more. You can extend/customize the functionality by adding applets.
2. Opera Mini
As always Opera Mini finds its way into most mobile apps lists. But the enhancement it provides to feature phones is unmatched in any other platform. For J2ME phones Opera first based pointer based clickable browsing and the ability to display almost any page no matter how complex the coding on it. Features include speed dial, cookies and password saving etc.
3. Bolt
Bolt 2 is a dark horse quickly catching up to Opera Mini from the shadows. The browser has ability to change orientation, can save passwords and cookies, and even has a half screen zoom window feature that comes in handy at times. In our opinion its best to have both Opera and Bolt browsers on your phone, you never know when which of the two might work better.
4. eBuddy
If you thought Instant Messaging is preserve of Smartphones, you’d be wrong. Applications like ebuddy make it possible for anyone to be always on. With ebuddy messenger you can have all your buddies from multiple IM accounts in one list and chat with them straight from your phone. It supports multiple protocols including Facebook, MSN, Yahoo!, Orkut, (Google Talk), AIM, ICQ and MySpace.
5. Litefeeds
Litefeeds is a full featured RSS feed reader. It’s got a plethora of functions and features. Once installed you can Scan feeds, view full text images, and clip items. The feeds are fully customizable and you can even email interesting news items to your friends from the app. The feeds are compressed and simplified with more options appearing only when you want them to. This way again your data usage is limited.
6. Flurry
Flurry is an easy to use email client for J2ME phones. You can keep track of multiple email accounts and there are options to view feeds too. The best part is the Flurry compresses data at the server end, thereby striving to keep your data charges to a minimum.
7. KD Player
KD Player is an awesome music player on the J2ME platform. It plays formats such as MP3, wma, and wav but that’s not its claim to fame. The real fun is in the attractive user interactive that shows a hell lot of info including bit rate apart from album name, artist etc. Themes can be changed and the player even has the ability to show album art provided it’s put in the folder. You can even bookmark tracks and make playlists.
8. Nimbuzz
A multi-protocol instant messenger client that is making waves in the Java phone space. It comes with a few goodies especially interms of UI design. The ability of the app to flawlessly access the phone’s camera and file system to instant send files to IM contacts, is a fantastic feature. 9. Mixit
Multi protocol chat clients are great when you want to IM your friends, but what if you want to join a regular old school chat room? Mixit is the app that you need. It’s moderated but as with anything connected to the internet, you might come across offensive content every now and then. Use with care.

Wattpad is the world’s most popular ebook community where people write and share content ranging from full length novels to short stories and essays. With the help of the J2ME app you get to read all of this content on the go and even connect with other readers/contributors from around. You also can access around 17,000 eBooks from Project Gutenberg you could need.
